Joomla or Wordpress
Another method you can consider for building your sites is to use an open source content management system like Wordpress or Joomla. Both are written in PHP and have a mySQL database backend.
Depending on your hosting providing these can be easy to install.
But which one should you choose between these 2?
Wordpress
In favour:
- Many themes available
- Very easy to use
Against:
- Not as much in built functionality as Joomla
- More focussed on blogging (but can also be setup as a business website or cms)
Joomla
In favour:
- Much functionality already built in
- More flexibility once you get over learning curve
Against
- More difficult to learn
- Not as many templates available
- More difficult to customise template
- Not as search engine friendly as Wordpress
