Part 3 – Research the competition
In my previous posts I explained how you can do keyword research and how you can target the right keywords. However, a big factor on wether or not you can rank for a particular keyword is how competitive it is. This video gives a very clear explanation why competition research for your particular keyword is so important.
It also shows you exactly how to do it with Market Samurai. I have recently started using this program and it really saves a lot of time in the whole keyword research process. I have personally experienced how crucial this part of keyword research is. Do it right and you can have a very succesful and profitable website. If you don’t spend enough time on this, you may just waste a lot of your time and money.
Some of the key factors of Competition Research
You want to target keywords that are not that competitive. Some of the factors to look for are:
- How many competitors are targeting the exact same keywords (amount of competition)
- What is the strength of the competiton? (how many backlinks do they have to their website, how old is their website, are your targeted keywords present in the domain etc.)
